Welcome Back at Whalers!

Our semester at GAU kicked off with our annual Welcome Back Night at Whalers, last Thursday! It was great to meet new members and see old members alike. Our union has been growing, which is great, because our power as a bargaining unit comes from YOU, our members! We’re Bigger, Better, and Stronger, TOGETHER!

This year, we’ll be working together to build our strength in numbers, build our community as graduate assistants at URI, and prepare for our next contract negotiations. YOUR voice matters, so come get involved!

Negotiations Meeting for Members Tomorrow Afternoon

Wondering what is taking so long with contract negotiations? Come discuss with us tomorrow, November 29th at 4:00 pm to learn what’s really going on, what we’ve been fighting so hard for these last few months, and most importantly how you may be able to help!

GAU is an organization that relies heavily on support from its members to keep growing and moving forward, so any way you can show up is a step toward progress. And remember, even if you are not an active GAU member, the contracts we advocate for apply to many of the graduate assistants on campus. They help protect your rights to things like sick leave, parking passes, fair treatment, and more.

If these rights are important to you, sign your GAU membership card today and join us for our meeting to discuss our next steps toward a better contract!
